The Parkland College Department of Public Saftey provides service-oriented functions to a college community of more then 10,000 faculty, staff, and students. The department employs 12 full-time state sworn police officers. The Department of Public Saftey provides several crime prevention programs to aid in crime reduction and increase public education. It also provides vehicle assistance for vehicle lockouts, jumpstarts, and transportatiion for fuel.
How to Contact Public Safety
The Department of Public Safety is the designated emergency response unit for the campus. Officers are Trained in emergency medical, hazardous material, severe weather, and law enforcement response. If at anytime on campus you require the assistance of Public Safety you can contact our office by:
- Using the emergency call boxes
- Dialing 2369 from a house phone
- Dialing 911 on staff/faculty Phone
- Dialing 217-351-2369 from a cell phone
Weather Announcements
The Department of Public Safety closely monitors changing weather conditions in order to give the most advance warning possible. Should severe weather develop, the Department of Public Safety well notify persons on campus via campus wide PA and through the campus computer network.
